  • New evidence supporting the importance of multispecies probiotic supplements to influence immune modulated diseases

    To further investigate the immune modulating capacity of probiotic bacteria and to optimize the choice of strains for products to develop for immune related diseases, the capability of 19 of Winclove’s different probiotic strains to stimulate either of the four types of CD4+ T cells, using a high throughput method was tested.

  • New bacterium: Clostridium romboutsii

    We put great effort in identifying probiotic bacteria and developing new products. In one of our latest projects, a new bacterium called CRIB was found. We named the newly discovered bacteria Clostridium romboutsii, after one of the researchers from Wageningen University who collaborated in the research project. Further in vitro and in vivo experiments are designed to explore the mutulastic interrelationship between CRIB, probiotics, and the host.

  • The Potential of Probiotics in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)

    Researchers from Winclove and the department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, University of California, USA, have performed a literature search to explore the potential role for probiotics in the management of childhood ASD. The review showed clear parallels between GI symptoms in ASD and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
